I have a small collection of crackpot tracts I’ve collected through the years. Now that Tony Alamo is making headlines again, this time for allegations of child abuse in his ministry, it seems like a good time to show off something from my collection. Especially because he was arrested in Flagstaff, where I now live.
Around 1983 I was a reporter for the student newspaper at Glendale Community College, in Arizona. A couple of Alamo’s followers buttonholed me and started regurgitating the ramblings from the tracts they were distributing. (I wasn’t a fan of President Reagan, but I’d never heard anyone call him a Communist before.) I escaped with a total of four Alamo tracts for my collection, including this one:
