I promised doodles, didn’t I?
Many of my doodles start with eyes. This one started with a mouth.
I wasn’t very satisfied with it. I had the foresight to save a copy of just the mouth.
I moved on to other doodles. Like this one:
This guy (above) had about a half-second cameo in my video about the Skeptic’s “Ghost” Story.
This sketch started with a mouth also. The gaps between his teeth were designed to correspond to the vertical stripes through the blurry glowblob in the video.
When I was done, I thought, Wait a minute… Don’t I have another mouth around here somewhere?
The mouth transplant suits him better, don’t you think?
My fellow doodlers
I’m releasing this mouth into the wild under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0) license. Which is kind of like a wild animal tagged for further study.
The other cameo that wasn’t
When I was 16-ish, I used to draw a character I created named Skater Roach—literally a skateboarding cockroach. Or was he a roller skater? Sad. I can’t remember. It’s like “Puff the Magic Dragon.”
A cockroach lives forever, but not so little boys…
For the same “Skeptic’s ‘Ghost’ Story” video, I had a mini sketch of Skater Roach on the table, but it was covered up by my animated teenage body.
Here’s the roach Easter egg that didn’t quite make it into the video:
